CAMP FACILITIES: We have 9 riding outdoor riding rings, a sports field, two in-ground swimming pools, a tennis court, arts and crafts building, several barns, petting zoo, low ropes course in our beautiful woods, trails, etc.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Thomas School of Horsemanship was founded in 1943 by Bill and Fran Thomas.

Many of our staff members and Directors are former campers who grew up at Thomas School and wanted to share the joys they had at camp with their children.

Our Directors are all RTE (Responding to Emergencies) certified, which includes CPR and First Aid (certified by the American Red Cross).

Our lifeguards are Red Cross Certified lifeguards and teach Red Cross certified swim lessons.

Our Riding Instructors are all certified instructors, as well as being certified in CPR and first aid by the Red Cross.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Campers age 13-15 participate in our CIT program where they can choose a specialty area in camp and mentor with staff from that area (Ex: Ride staff, lifeguards, counselors etc.) They also go on trips-some of our past trips have included: overnight to Hershey Park, overnight to Six Flags Great Adventure, day trip to the Waterfront Center (sailing and kayaking), day trip to Mountain Creek water park, overnight to Club Getaway, day trip to Brownstone Adventure Park, overnight Camping/White Water Rafting, etc.)

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Year round ride school with programs for ages 3 and older. Lessons offered include private lessons, group lessons and semi privates. Group lessons are offered full year or seasonally.

We offer camps during school breaks where students can spend the day at the barn taking care of and riding a horse that they are assigned to.

We offer birthday parties and girl & boy scout badge earning outings as well as school field trips during the year.

CAMP FACILITIES: RRDC offers every sports/arts activity imaginable, including Red Cross swim instruction and unique riverside boating.The brand new, fully enclosed junior pool highlights this state-of-the-art facility featuring three heated outdoor pools.

Campers also participate in a variety of other on-site and off-site activities including soccer, basketball, softball, gymnastics, hockey, roller skating, dance, yoga, karate, and tennis, just to name a few.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Campers enjoy a balanced schedule that includes group periods and choice periods each day. During group periods, campers participate in group activities that ensure group bonding and a well-rounded summer. Choice periods provide campers a customized Walden experience, with more time and instruction in the activities they love most.

Walden also has many exciting special days that differ from our regular schedule! Our campers enjoy awesome trip days to places such as Six Flags amusement park. We also have many Special Event Days including Carnival, Big/Little Day, and Superbowl Sunday among many others. Walden campers additionally enjoy camp traditions such as Tribals in the first session and Color War during the second session. Both are four-day events with exciting activities to promote team building and camp spirit. Walden also offers optional mountain bike trips and guided hikes up local Adirondack peaks. Campers may also elect to participate in any number of tournament teams in which they compete against neighboring camps.

CAMP FACILITIES: Silver Lake is a picturesque camp, situated on over 300 acres of rolling green hills with a 96-acre private lake. Since opening in 2004, we have been busy improving and upgrading all of our facilities. During that time we have built all new bunks and renovated our basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts. We have also expanded our facilities over the past few summers by adding a new soccer field, "Monster" baseball field, skate park, Pool, and brand new state of the art Gymnastics Facility.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Michael and Shari Baer, owners of Camp Chipinaw, established Silver Lake in 2004 as a session camp that allowed campers to attend for 3, 4, or 7 weeks. Silver Lake incorporates all of the traditions, activities, and spirit of Chipinaw… but does it twice each summer! Simply put, we want to provide campers with the opportunity to go to camp for a shorter amount of time and still get the "full camp" experience.

With state of the art facilities and over 50 activities to choose from, Silver Lake offers a warm family feel. Sports, Arts, Adventure, Digital Media, and Water Sports are just some of the many programs campers can choose from. Fly on our flying trapeze, flip into the foam pit in our newly built gymnastics center, horseback ride through one of our many trails, or waterski on our 96 acre lake, Silver Lake has something for everyone!

TEXAS: Camp Shane Texas is set on a lovely 83-acre, beautifully landscaped and wooded campus with attractive and well kept facilities in gorgeous Texas Hill Country setting. Dormitories are modern with custom furniture, granite bathroom counter tops and polished concrete floors. All sport facilities, dorms and classrooms are air conditioned. CAMP FACILITIES: Come spend the summer at resident YMCA Camp Weona and discover what dreams are made of in a place “where only good prevails.” With over a century of camping experience, and built on the Christian heritage of the YMCA, we value honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility. YMCA Camp Weona offers both traditional and high adventure activities. Horseback riding through the forest, kayaking under the blue sky, making new friends, singing by the campfire, jumping into the refreshing pool, learning how to set up a campsite, fishing at the lake; each day is full of adventure. YMCA Camp Weona serves children 7 to 17 years old with exciting summer camp options for one, or two or more week stays. All campers live in one of 18 rustic bunk style cabins with shared restrooms facilities. Campers return home with increased self esteem, friendship building skills, and the ability to make good decisions on their own. You’ll find that your child will become better at meeting and getting to know people and will learn to take positive risks at learning new things.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We pride ourselves in selecting staff that are role models of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility. As a result, the YMCA Camp Weona culture and setting are safe, fun, and enriching physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. We recruit from local high schools and colleges, as well as all over the country and around the world. All staff participate in an intensive week-long residential training that includes safety management, working with children in group settings, leading activities, camp policies and procedures, and child abuse prevention. Necessary staff members are lifeguard, CPR, and first aid certified as well as other nationally-recognized certifications. YMCA Camp Weona takes the health and safety of our campers very seriously.

We have a 6:1 camper-to-leader ratio which assures close supervision of all activities. During the summer session a fulltime health officer lives on site and a physician is on call 24 hours a day. Also, YMCA Camp Weona is certified by the New York State Health Department and has periodic inspections throughout the summer. YMCA Camp Weona is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). ACA is a non-profit organization that member camps join voluntarily. For nearly two decades, YMCA Camp Weona has been a member of this organization and on a semi-annual basis is visited by ACA, which verifies that we are maintaining over 300 standards of operation in camping. These are industry standards and recognized by the government.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Building on the tradition of “super” leadership, the YMCA believes in growing our future leaders as well as enhancing our teen population’s skill base. Leaders in Training (LIT) is geared toward teens who are ready to test their leadership skills while working with younger campers. All LITs must demonstrate the YMCA’s core values, have a service mentality, and strong desire to learn and grow leadership skills. Participating as an LIT may count toward high school community service hours for graduation. CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: At YMCA Camp Weona, we believe that every child should have the chance to experience camp. The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign provides financial assistance to families within our community who are in need of financial support and may not have the ability to pay the full fee. Financial assistance is determined based on a thorough review of an application and a personal interview with the applicant. Assistance will be granted on the basis of financial need resulting from low income, emergency expenses or other circumstances that inhibit an individual’s ability to pay a prescribed fee. As part of our mission, we teach campers responsibility with an opportunity to Earn Their Way to Camp. Campers may choose to pay for part or all of their camp fees through the annual YMCA Camp Candy Sale which runs from January through July.

OTHER CAMP INFO: YMCA Camp Weona is a “Group Work” Camp. At YMCA Camp Weona, our rustic cabins provide a home for small groups of no more than 12 campers who live together and attend daily activities as a group. Cabin groups are made up of either boys or girls entering similar grades and registered for the same camp program. Groups of 8-12 campers of similar gender and age attend daily activities together as a cabin with their leaders. The intention is to foster a “family-like” atmosphere within the group. Menu - Our back-to-basics menu is prepared each day in the dining hall. The YMCA offers items that children enjoy in their daily life that help sustain the additional energy needed during long days at camp. Our food service staff prides themselves on the fact that there are no trans fats in our meals. Special consideration is given for children who have allergies or prefer a vegetarian option.

Cabin/Bunk Mates - Campers may request a bunk mate within one school grade of each other, are of the same gender, and are registered for the same program. A bunk mate request is included in the parent pack and must be returned three weeks prior to attendance. Requests made after the three-week deadline may not be honored. In order to promote inclusion within each cabin, only one bunk mate request per child will be honored. (Bunk mates must be reciprocal – ex. John picks Tim and Tim must pick John.) Groups of four or more may be split to promote new camper inclusion.

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Jacobson is an accredited day camp (ACA) located on 15 acres on Long Island, NY. We have 3 outdoor heated swimming pools, outdoor basketball court, tennis court, mini golf course, several sports fields, archery, kitchen for camper cooking program, karaoke room, arts and crafts, and a brand new indoor Ninja Warrior obstacle course.

CAMP FACILITIES: French Woods Sports and Arts Center features outstanding modern facilities that include a spacious multilevel dining room, heated pool, gymnasium, gymnastics center, fitness center, technology/communications center, recording studio, large theater, dance studio, rock music center, immaculate sports fields, 4 tennis courts, indoor and outdoor volleyball court, indoor and outdoor basketball court, a baseball diamond, archery range, a private lake, equestrian stables, 14 studios for classes and activities, an open air circus area, an advanced medical center, and two large Dormitory buildings (bunks) housing multiple suites that sleep 8 to 10 campers and counselors with en suite bathrooms, plus 3 additional bunk buildings. All buildings are climate controlled with air-conditioning and heat.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: French Woods Sports and Arts Center provides the summer of a lifetime in a safe, supportive, supervised and age appropriate environment. Campers completely determine which activities they will participate in. Children are offered a wide range of activities that include sports, arts, technology, extreme sports, circus, rock music, electronic music, dance, water sports, DJ and radio, theater, communications, magic, cooking, role playing games, and equestrian. All that and more rolled up together into one incredible summer experience!

There are six activities per day, each one hour in length; three of these periods are called majors and three are called minors.

Majors are chosen at the beginning of each session and are maintained for two weeks. Minors are chosen daily at breakfast. This lets you concentrate on the things that interest you, while giving you the chance to try something new.

Empowering our campers to feel good about themselves and their accomplishments can increase motivation to try harder, try new activities, continues to build self-confidence, and achieve self-efficacy. The more you believe in your abilities, the more inclined you are to be motivated to attempt new things and become successful in those endeavors.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: CIT Program: Campers who are entering the 11th and 12th grades have the option of participating in our two level Counselor In Training program. CAMP FACILITIES: Forrestel is located on a sprawling 800 acre farm with a variety of landscape features. Campers enjoy a large number of activities on our fields, streams, woodlands and campground. The buildings include a beautiful 1825 Greek Revival farmhouse, barn complex, eating house, tennis court, indoor arena, many outdoor rings and our campsite with modern shower house and large fire pit. The campers are housed in tent cabins. New in 2014 is our first cabin for the youngest campers located adjacent to the shower house.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Forrestel’s horseback riding programm is a very unique one, which offers 2 programs; Horsemanship 1 and Horsemanship 2.

Our international and local riding counselors are all qualified, experienced and passionate about teaching our campers to ride. The campers are taught on one of Forrestel’s family owned, well schooled horses, who are carefully matched to the child with age, size, ability and experience taken into consideration. Campers also have the option of bringing their own horse/pony with them to camp.

Riding instruction at Forrestel includes structured ring work and cross country riding. Our campers can choose to focus on different areas of their riding which can include; hunt seat equitiation, dressage, eventing, cross country and show jumping.

We also have our speciality horsey activities, which are all firm favourites. They include pony club games, trail riding, trips to the horse pond and overnight, and decorate a horse.

Within our Riding Program we also offer a stable management option, which includes all aspects of horse care from mucking out, trailer safety, preparing for shows, braiding and veterinary care.

CAMP FACILITIES: Summit has approx. 30 traditional wooden cabins with electric and private facilities in each cabin. Our main buildings include our newly refinished dining hall, air-conditioned recreational hall, our medical facility, and a newly built outdoor pavilion. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summit Camp is a co-ed sleepaway camp for ages 8-19 years with issues of attention: AD/HD, HFA/Asperger’s Disorder, and/or learning differences. Using the frame of a traditional sleepaway camp, we create platforms of success where our campers can experience outcomes such as improved self-esteem, lasting friendships, and increased independence. This is accomplished through a well-orchestrated and expertly staffed backdrop to a largely traditional camp experience- guided challenges, waterfront, adventure course, and more. Our Teen Travel program extends the Summit community to provide a safe yet exciting adventure to one of our many attractive national and international destination tours offering 14 day and 19 day excursions. Summit Weekenders provide a youth-group style social retreat for adolescents to have an oasis of independence, enjoyment, and success during the school year months. Regardless of the specific program, Summit provides an expertly staffed, highly structured, and truly fun experience for our youth, and has been doing so since 1969. CAMP FACILITIES: Our SUNY Purchase College location is a sprawling 500-acre campus located in the heart of beautiful Westchester County. More than 40 counselors and staff members assist the director in the day-to-day operations of the camp. The camper-counselor staff ratio averages 3:1. As a staff member, you will be entrusted with someone’s most important possession, their child. We look for counselors who exhibit the maturity necessary to succeed in this role.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our mission at Rocky Brook is to foster independence and leadership while providing a physically and socially safe environment for every girl. Our camp is a place to explore, experiment, and experience while enjoying the benefits of an all-girl program. Included in the fee are full days of stimulating activities, daily snacks and a camp t-shirt.Every day at Rocky Brook will find you involved in traditional camp activities such as arts and crafts, games, sports, and nature.

Every session will include exciting trips as well as boating, swimming and hiking. Trips and overnights vary by sessions and may include a hike on the Appalachian Trail or a trip to the Medieval Times. Special leadership overnights for girls in 4th grade and above. Rocky Brook is ACA-Accredited and all staff must participate in extensive training prior to the first day of camp.

CAMP FACILITIES: Campers stay in secure, clean, modern corridor-style residence halls dedicated to summer campers. Males and females are housed in separate buildings. When not in class or practice, students have lots of fun participating in a variety of recreational activities including outdoor games like "Capture the Flag" and "Ultimate Frisbee," indoor games, movies, visits to a nearby lake for picnics and campfires, hikes, relaxing and socializing at the village Coffee House and each camp closes with a farewell party the last night of their camp.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Each building is staffed by a Head Camp Counselor and 4 camp counselors who are are specially trained to serve as positive role models, mentors and friends. They provide out-of-classroom supervision throughout the week.

Our programs are staffed by distinguished members of the Alfred University faculty and advanced graduate students. Our sports camps are run by our head sports coaches who have all won distinguished awards in their sport. With Alfred University's excellence in teaching and coaching, along with their commitment to offering quality programming, these are among the most educational and fun summer programs in the country.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): At the end of our Equestrian camps there are shows put on for parents to enjoy the last day of camps. Check our website for specific information.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Cafeteria-style meals are served in the University's dining hall. Our Dining Service chefs do an excellent job in accommodating campers with food allergies and any other special requirements.
