BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: SOAR offers high adventure summer camps for youth with ADHD and other Learning disabilities. Campers participate in exciting adventure activities such as rock climbing, horseback riding, SCUBA diving, llama treks, whitewater rafting, surfing, and much more!

CAMP LOCATION: SOAR has 5 main programming locations: North Carolina, Wyoming, Florida, Northern New York and California as well as several International options.
CAMP FACILITIES: SOAR has two major Base Camp facilities: one in Balsam North Carolina where we have rustic cabins, a dining pavilion, on site showers/bathrooms, high and low ropes course, as well as several gathering campfire locations. The other is in Dubois Wyoming, where we have similar amenities as above except, this base camp is a working horse ranch!
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Philosophy: SOAR believes all individuals identified with learning disabilities (LD) and attention deficit disorder (ADHD) possess inherent talents and gifts. These abilities can mean incredible success in adulthood once these students negotiate the challenging obstacles of childhood, adolescence, and a traditional education system, usually unable to respond to individual learning styles.
SOAR's programs are designed to allow students the opportunity to increase their independence while away from home. Independence is gained through self-motivation and life skills instruction. With this in mind, we involve our students in many decision making processes, such as setting individual goals, developing group guidelines, as well as trip and meal planning. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Horseback Riding: Saddle up on gentle, sure-footed horses and head out for an easy one to two hour ride into. The Teton Wilderness Area. RIDING IS NOT MANDATORY! You can still experience this unique adventure with family and friends.
Western Cookout: Settle in around the fire under a canopy of lodge pole pines. Relax while we prepare a real western cook-out as the sun sets, followed by a cozy campfire and star gazing.
Overnight Accommodations: Retire to your private lantern lit wall tent. Sleep on comfortable bunks. Early risers have the best chance at spotting deer or moose roaming near camp.
Breakfast: A country style breakfast is served between 6:30 and 8:00am in the large cook tent warmed by a wood stove on frosty mornings.

CAMP FACILITIES: Alpengirl campers sleep in 3-4 person backpacking style tents, we practice outdoor living, cooking, and leave no trace skills. A majority of our campsites have bathroom and running water and are located in gorgeous wilderness settings in mountains, next to fresh water streams, at by pristine lakes.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Alpengirl Camp is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA) and has a staff to camper ratio of 1:4 or 1:6. Our camp is highly supervised with small groups of 12 girls led by 2-3 adult female role model Alpenguides. Alpenguides average age is 26 and all have certifications in Wilderness First Aid and CPR.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Alpengirl is a multi-adventure camp, we offer a variety of adventure activities in each session. We also practice daily yoga and enjoy cooking and eating delicious, healthy camp food. Campers are involved in all aspects of camp life including acting as leader of the day, setting up tents, cooking on camp stoves, following hiking maps, leading fun activities with the group and being part of a close-knit team.
CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
Girls age 11-12 this summer can choose a 1 week camp in Montana (near Bozeman, MT) or Washington state (near Seattle, WA).
Girls age 12, 13 or 14 in middle school can choose (or combine) 12/13-day camp sessions in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming or in Washington state.
Girls age 14-16 in high school can choose a 2 week camp in Washington or Montana.

CAMP LOCATION: Camp GROW is located on the 857 acre Mountain Springs Ranch in the foothills of the Wind River Mountains, about 30 minutes from the town of Pinedale, WY. CAMP FACILITIES: We have a central lodge/dining hall, bunkhouse cabins, 5 ponds for fishing and swimming, a large rock climbing boulder, rifle range, archery range, and horse arena. With nearly 900 acres of camp surrounded on three sides by federally protected lands, campers will have ample opportunity for a truly Western wilderness experience.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Green River Outreach for Wilderness (GROW) Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2009 by a group of like-minded people sharing a passion for wilderness and a compelling desire to introduce others to wild places. GROW's primary focus is to offer children the opportunity to discover nature through fun activities, so that they may develop a sense of wonder and appreciation for the creation and the Creator who made it. Through GROW's programming, kids can gain self-confidence and be equipped to make better decisions throughout their lives.

Camp Counselors
Responsible for the direct supervision of campers, care and keeping of bunkhouse, and leadership in camp activities. Previous camp experience preferred. Must be at least 19 and possess Wilderness First Aid/CPR or be willing to obtain.
Compensation: $250-320 a week DOE + lodging, laundry, and meals.
Camp Wrangler
Responsible for the care, keeping, and management of a herd of 14-16 riding horses as well as all riding instruction and tack management. Must have at least 2 years experience in teaching riding lessons and horse care. Must be an early riser and a self-starter. Experience managing horse-packing trips in wilderness settings preferred. Must possess Wilderness First Aid/CPR or be willing to obtain.
